Dear softball friends,
It’s been with great honour and a special satisfaction that our society, Old Parma Baseball & Softball Club, taking part to the Oltretorrente Group, has accepted the invitation to organize the 2009 edition of a prestigious european competition as the «Cup Winners Cup» of softball.
We wish to thank the European federation (ESF) for having assigned to us this prestigious competition and the Italian Federation (FIBS) for the fundamental support given to our nomination.

For about thirty years now, «Old Parma Baseball & Softball Club» plays a primary role in the scene of the amateurish sports in our town, Parma. In this long time we have promoted a lot of events and particularly we are proud to remind the international tournament Due Torri, reserved to young teams and come this year to its 24th edition. We hope of being able to transmit, also in this new important competitive adventure we are going to face, all the experience and the passion gained in our long period of sport activities. We wish all the participants in the prestigious event of the «European Cup Winners Cup» of softball to spend in the best way a week of games played in the name of the highest values of sport and with the promise, in every moment of the competition, to take always high the spirit of loyalty and of the widespread sense of friendship which distinguish our beautiful sport from time.

In this tournament we’ll have the pleasure to see on the playing field some teams which have become part of the history of our sport in Europe: the great dutch clubs of Terrasvogels and Sparks Haarlem, the belgian of Braschaat, the spanish players from Viladecans and the Jourds team from Prague. There’ll be also present teams which are source of considerable curiosity, as the rappresentative team of Zagreb or the Moskovia. It’ll be an interest surprise as well to discover the german teams of Wanderers and Neukirchen. In short, we’re certain that it will be an high-level torunament, able to guarantee a good spectacle.

A great support for the best success of the tournament has been given us by the Town Municipality of Parma, by the Provincial Administration and by the Regional government of Emilia Romagna, and we seize the opportunity to thank all the persons representative of these institutions who has been engaged for this purpose.

Last, but not less important, we’d like to mention all the volunteers who have freely donated their time and their passion to help the organization: without their collaboration this tournament could not be performed. Starting from them, we extend to all the participants in the 2009 edition of the «European Cup Winners Cup» of softball our very warm-hearthed welcome to Parma, hoping that everyone can be in his own way a basic protagonist of a new wonderful edition of this important european agonistic meeting.
